(AT1) What Is A Digipack?

The digi-pack is a form of packaging for CD’s or DVD’S created by MeadWestvaco; they are generally a gatefold book style outer binding, with the plastic tray to hold the CD placed inside. Manufacturers are becoming increasingly environmental by using recyclable product’s to make its tray. Others are beginning to eliminate the plastic tray completely and replaced it with a card or paper tray.

The album digipack I very important in attracting the audience, if the album digipack is not appealing enough it has the potential to not only put consumers off but not catch their eye at all, the digipack design should reflect the theme of the album, if it is a rock band it would be bizarre to feature something such as rainbows on the cover unless it related to a specific song or was used in an ironic way.
